Smithsonian Museum Day

This year, Museum Day celebrates the Smithsonian Year of Music! Music is not only a reflection of human creativity and innovation, but also a key method of communication and cross-cultural exchange and understanding. Join us at Tomaquag Museum and celebrate Indigenous musical expression! Tour the museum and see our new Pop-Up exhibit on Hoté Casella, a mezzo-soprano singer of Native American music from the 1940s-1980s. Visit our Native Arts Market all day and support Indigenous artists! Check out A Musical tour of Native America, an exciting presentation by Chris Newell (Passamaquoddy) of Akowmawt. Lunch available for purchase from Native cooks Pearl & Sierra Spears (Narragansett). And stick around for a Spoken Word performance by Wampanoag artist Robert Peters and purchase his new 2020 Calendar! Get your FREE tickets online now at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2019/
