Cultural Connections through Cultural Belongings at Mystic Seaport Museum

  • Mystic Seaport Museum 75 Greenmanville Avenue Mystic, CT, 06355 United States (map)

In this presentation by Lorén M. Spears, Narragansett, learn about Indigenous history and cultural connections through two important belongings loaned by Rhode Island’s Tomaquag Museum: a trade bead necklace and beaded top hat, both by Indigenous artists. The two objects are included in the exhibition, Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano, currently on view at Mystic Seaport Museum.
