In this presentation, we explore the cultural significance of water and the Indigenous led movement to protect it.

Lorén Spears, Executive Director, an educator for more than 25 years and founder of Nuweetooun School, will share strategies for k-8 teachers to integrate Indigenous content across the curriculum. She will give tips and strategies to seamlessly add this important content to the curriculum already required to meet state grade span expectations and core standards.

In this presentation, we explore how you can still enjoy your turkey while being historically accurate and culturally sensitive.

Rene Haynes Casting is conducting a search for Indigenous/ Native Americans to host a Native American History Series by Crash Course on YouTube. All interested parties are welcome to apply; Educators, Teachers, Hosts, Entertainers, and social media content creators - Anyone who feels comfortable presenting on camera.

GENERATIONS RISING: RECOVERING LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
Forced assimilation and the violence of settler colonialism were cataclysmic to the use and preservation of Indigenous languages. Concerted efforts were directly aimed at severing the sacred thread of interconnectedness between spoken word and culture. Nevertheless, Indigenous languages have persevered, but not without significant challenges.
This presentation explores the continuance, recovery, and celebration of ancestral languages and the creative ways Indigenous people are keeping these cultural traditions alive.

"STORIES IN STONE" Film Screening and Discussion
Join Education Manager, Chrystal Mars Baker as she hosts a screening of the film, Stories In Stone. Following the screening, join Baker in discussing how the Narragansett stone masons influenced the trade of masonry. This event will be held at Cross' Mills Public Library.
Basket Stamping Workshop
The Tomaquag Museum will present a program focusing the tradition of Basket Stamping. Decorating splint baskets with beautiful designs stamped onto the sides of the baskets is a traditional art form indigenous to the tribes of Southern New England.
Learn more about basket making in indigenous communities and create our own stamping designs!
