REPORTS TO: IEN Coordinator
TERM: Part-time, 20 hours per week; continuation grant contingent SALARY: $15/hr

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Tomaquag Museum is growing and looking for experienced associates who have a passion small business incubation, creating a positive customer experience, and driving merchandising and operational excellence. We offer a retail environment where you can truly make a difference by providing small business development training as well as artist consignment opportunity to Native American artist with the goal of fighting poverty in Native communities. We are seeking a Part-time, Hourly, Retail Coordinator in our museum store. This position requires a flexible schedule, Tuesdays thru Saturdays. The position is a blend of 75% admin functions and 25% store support functions i.e. customer service, store recovery/maintenance.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision of help staff including interns and volunteers - Develops and conducts new staff orientation for the museum store - Track the administration of both training checklists and performance evaluations

  • Track Inventory - input new items and Prepare for sales floor - create and manage floor set

  • Track and maintain artist consignment records and reports - Track distribution of artist payouts - Maintain files and records

  • Balances register tills and assures preparation of funds for next days sales

  • Prepares reports for Accounting and Finance - maintain files and records

  • Lead creation of online store on Tomaquag Website with the assistance of marketing staff, Assistant Director and IEN Coordinator; Assist with coordination, implementation, and maintenance of online sales - packaging and tracking mailings

  • Develop and Manage Customer Experience Surveys and Feedback

  • Assist Marketing Department in promotion and advertising - Maintains Social Media Presence

  • Cashiering, cleaning and maintenance of museum store - Provides excellent internal and external Customer Service - Present for all onsite and offsite events to include Museum Store Sales

  • Assists and participates in Indigenous Small Business Incubation Training Development and Implementation

  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of related retail experience in supervisory role or business education equivalent

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Knowledge of SQUARE Point of Sale Software a plus

  • Experience using Windows and more importantly Apple programs (i.e. pages, numbers, keynote) a plus

  • Physical demands while performing the duties of this job include: standing, walking, hearing, talking, bending, lifting, may occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

  • Background Check required to be completed by applicant prior to hire
