Tomaquag Museum Awarded Grant from the Ocean State Charities Trust

Exeter, Rhode Island: Tomaquag Museum awarded $3400 grant for Collections Technologies. The funds will support the purchase a new laptop, software, external hard drive and other back up hardware. This support from the Ocean State Charities Trust will support the growth of the collections department by matching funding from The USDA Rural Business Enterprises grant, which funded our new Collections Manager, Kimberly Peters. Along with the NEH Preservation Assessment and Champlin Foundations grants recently awarded, these grants will help to improve the long term care of our collection and provide better access to the collection for the public. “We are grateful for the support of the Ocean State Charities Trust whose support enables us to fulfill our strategic goals for collections care and management,” said Loren Spears, Executive Director.

The museum collection is used by a variety of researchers, artists, educators, and students.  The new technology will allow the collection to be more accessible to the public through an online database in the future. “The care & management of the collection is a priority for the museum and this technology will help us reach our goals,” stated Kimberly Peters, Tomaquag Museum’s new Collections Manager. Tomaquag Museum is open by appointment during the winter months for tours, offsite programs, researchers and the general public. For more information visit or call 401-491-9063
