“Thank You for giving such a wonderful presentation for my school at the Tomaquag Museum. I learned about the detribalization of the Narragansett. I also learned about the many inaccuracies in our history books. I learned about the genocides of the English against the Narragansetts. Thank you again for teaching us so much. ”

Training Programs

Tomaquag Museum offer training to professionals in the workplace.  Bring our educators to your workshops, conferences, staff meetings or retreats to provide an engaging training to help your employees excel in the workplace.  We currently offer the following programs:

Cultural Awareness Presentations - An introduction to Indigenous Culture in New England.  This has been a popular offering amongst different local businesses to introduce their staff to the unique culture of the Indigenous people of New England.  Indigenous Invisibility is rampant in this area and as a result, research, outreach and marketing has ignored this population. Help your staff become more informed about Indigenous people to better serve others in our diverse community.

Cultural Competency Training - An important training for all professions, this training breaks down stereotypes associated with Indigenous people by providing an accurate history behind the myths that have taken over our society.  Introduce your staff to the culture, values, and social practices of Indigenous people today and provide them with the resources to better serve Indigenous people in their community.

Social Service Provision to Indigenous Population - Ever wonder why Native Americans are so underrepresented amongst the populations your program services? This training will give you tools that you can employ in your agencies to open the door, broaden your reach, and provide culturally competent services to the Indigenous community.  This social service focused training explores historical trauma, breaks down stereotypes, identifies culturally sensitive service provision techniques, and provides resources and contacts specific to servicing Native American in your area.

Educator Trainings - Focused on inclusive education, this training assists educators in integrating indigenous education in the classroom.  Our educator trainings will help others develop curriculum that is more diverse, equitable, and historically accurate while providing culturally competent resources for teaching and engaging students.

Pricing: Call to discuss pricing.  Topic areas can be adjusted to meet your group's specific learning goals.
