Weekly Children’s Hour Returns to Tomaquag Museum

EXETER, RI – The free public Children’s Hour at the Tomaquag Museum will be returning this summer every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM between June through August 2026. Children of all ages and abilities are invited to bring their families for fun activities based on this year’s theme “Asserting Sovereignty through Traditional Ecological Knowledge.” Topics this year range from cattails, beading, ferns, and frogs, to name a few.

“Children tell us, year after year, so doing lots of different activities in each class is what makes it fun. We cover everything from science, music, games, storytelling, crafts, to the Narragansett language,” explained Tomaquag Museum’s own Educator, Chrystal Baker. “We have done this free program for years, so we really understand how to make learning fun, so the children look forward to coming back the next week.”

All Children’s Hour programs are free, but reserving a spot is highly recommended. A full class schedule with detailed descriptions and registration is available at https://www.tomaquagmuseum.org. Tomaquag Museum’s 2026 Children’s Hour is supported, in part, by Rhode Island State Council For the Arts and the Papitto Opportunity Connection, as well as individual donations from the community.
