Celebrating her legacy as an entrepreneur in the founding of Dovecrest Indian Restaurant and other businesses, sharing Narragansett culture through cuisine, and the contributions of business leaders today who share Indigenous culture through their businesses.
Ellison “Tarzan” Brown Champion Award
Celebrating his legacy as an marathon runner, olympian, and hero for his people bringing the Narragansett into the public eye on a regional, national and international stage and the contributions of people today to champion Tomaquag Museum, Indigenous causes and be champions in their own right. Nominate someone you know who has shown great entrepreneurial spirit! Perhaps they are an Indigenous business owner. Or maybe you know a business that serves and supports the indigenous community.
Eva Butler Scholar Award
Celebrating her legacy of inquiry through anthropology, archeology, partnering with Indigenous community for the forming of Tomaquag Museum and the contributions of researchers today. Nominate someone you know who has been a champion in indian country! Perhaps you know a hero in your community. Perhaps there's someone who has worked diligently to support Indigenous causes. Or maybe they have worked hard to support the tomaquag museum as a community partner or volunteer. Who are the champions that you know who deserve to be recognized?
Princess Red Wing Arts & Culture Award
Celebrating her legacy as a Narragansett/Wampanoag artist, storyteller, activist, writer, knowledge keeper and original voice of Tomaquag Museum and the contributions of today’s culture bearers. Nominate someone you know who has made a considerable contribution through education! Perhaps you know an author, educator, student or researcher who is sharing the stories of indigenous people, culture, life ways, art in a significant way.
Life Time Achievement Award
Celebrating outstanding achievement on behalf of Indigenous people and communities across “Indian Country” and the impact. Nominate someone you know who has contributed to the community through the sharing of indigenous arts and culture! We want to honor our culture bearers who carry on our traditional life ways and share them with others so they are never lost or forgotten. We want to recognize those individuals in a special way.
